I am still
cerulean water,
born of dawn’s
prowess,
with my ability
to move ferocious,
withheld,
I can feel you
surround me.
Breath on my neck,
slight pressure
upon my shoulder blades
as my body bends
submitting.
I defy self-control
and react
internally, your
presence caressing,
my ache aglow.
I’m left to attempt,
waves lapping,
freely,
instead of
the embodiment
of quaver. This
my transformation
into deliquesce.
“All I’ve ever wanted to be was a poet.” – Audrey Dawn.
“For example, an artist has a strong feeling about something, which is authentic; she expresses it … When expression becomes all-important because it is pleasurable, satisfying, or profitable, then there is cleavage between expression and feeling. When the feeling IS the expression then the conflict doesn’t arise, and there is no contradiction.”

Whenever I feel less than free then I examine what it is that is restraining me and whether I wish to acquiesce or transcend. (And if the latter then how.)

Yes, much left within the hush, however, I’ve always thought you could see me.
You are treasured. Your creative eye causes me to strive for better and I appreciate you more than you realize.

I see you melting but I think you don’t want to be saved. Sometimes that’s the goal, right? Just to be left alone with your own senses.

Somehow, in some way, I need to be okay with tending to my spirit. I’m trying. Waiting for superman could take up too much time. Thank you for reading, Shari.

I am happy with how this turned out. I wasn’t sure at the time, but I grew on me, for sure. Still trying to locate my poetic confidence. It took a hit a few years ago. Hoping I get my feet again. ♡

You know me too well, Dan. A girl has to talk herself into going for it once and awhile…
Your comment made me laugh. You called me out!

It seems like a poet never settles until it’s right. That’s the essence of self control.

For sure, Dan. Some days we’re harder on ourselves than others. Some of the best poets write a poem in seconds. Gotta love the ability to let it go.
