I’ve noticed your attempt at
Subtle vocabulary,
To encourage
Without
Allowing me to fall.
You’re too late,
This has always been
What I do best.

Day Two – Red Headed Woman
Ms. Heartafire wants me to share my musical interests as part of the five day song challenge. Thanks for having me, Sister Ginger. I think you’ll like this one as much as I do..
The rules:
POST A SONG A DAY FOR FIVE CONSECUTIVE DAYS.
POST WHAT THE LYRICS MEAN TO YOU. (OPTIONAL)
POST THE NAME OF THE SONG AND VIDEO.
NOMINATE 1 OR 2 BLOGGERS EACH DAY OF THE CHALLENGE (I’ve made this optional…hoping that’s okay. If you want to participate, tell them I made you. 😉 )
Day Two: Bruce Springsteen’s Red Headed Woman
What the lyrics mean to me: I like knowing there’s a man who enjoys a redhead. Enough to sing a song about them, too. Not enough songs or poems about redheads if you ask me. Smiles.
This song makes me laugh every time I hear it. The man knows what he’s talking about…!
Enjoy..
Day One – Five Day Song Challenge
It seems Ms. Hollie wants me to share my musical interests. My inspiration.
Music and I have an understanding, I don’t ask it where its been, if it doesn’t ask me and because of that we’re the best of friends having traveled similar paths.
Hollie caught me at a good time and completely off guard. Thank you, Sister Ginger. ♡
Go visit her poetry, if you don’t already, she’s the real deal.

My Anniversary

My blogging Anniversary snuck up on me. As soon as I saw this photo in my notifications box this morning, I realized it was April and I’d forgotten.
Four years?
You’ve held me accountable during the hardest four years of my life. Made me feel like a friend, a daughter, a sister and a lover.
Thank you for accepting me as I am, encouraging me to return to the poetry I love to write, and expecting me to share it because you know how desperately I need to…
You’ve given me my voice. Continue reading
The Colors of Dawn
She began pastel pink, airy and light
a sense of normalcy.
Darling.
Placing herself gently upon wide open and encompassing blue.
Auspicious.
As if appearing for the sole purpose of approval, geese, in v formation, fly through.
Scene Highlighted.
Prophetic.
Vibrant, at the snap of his command.
Passion, becomes the color of morning.
Vision of Reality
Across an aquamarine pool
star fairies sparkle and glisten,
a scene of brillance, splediferously true,
found now shimmering upon my fair skin.
Secluded moments live here, too
dancing and guiding are the wisps
throughout the day, into twilight’s hues,
freckles, counted, by way of sun’s kiss, claim me.
Apollo offers to illuminate the view,
his hands sculpting radiance; bronze tones,
as summer temperatures offer proof,
his abilities masterful and, yes, epic.
Cicada’s persistence found romantic,
while evening shades finally filter through,
smell of honeysuckle murmurs to the wind,
hinting to how life could be once alone with you.

Unconditional
Vintage Memories
Passed through the screen door,
Recalled the carpeted staircase,
Felt the pull of Maxine,
Grandmother, to me.
Twenty-three years, two months
Since we stood closely,
Right here
Packing odds and ends
To her,
Treasures, to me.
Cabinet I’ll never forget
Cookie dough testing,
“Needs flour, touch it, you’ll see,
Grab the butterscotch chips,
These will be Grandpa’s offerings.”
Sounds made when the drawers
Opened and closed, vintage whisperings,
Now upon my ears,
Fingertips sliding across moments,
Years.
Window gifting the same view,
advice,
Coverings, crisp and clean
Perfect place, for
Snapping green beans,
Twice.
Time to move the sprinklers,
Grab a bucket, strawberries to tend,
Summers without her
Still painful, something I dread.

Bathing In You
At Home In Houston
News from Houston, while you patiently wait, has arrived, my friends.
1. I am alive.
2. The flood waters, as of this morning, are not near my home. Other parts of Houston are terribly flooded.
3. We haven’t seen flood waters like this in 500 years. Hurricane season begins June 1st. God help us if these past few months are any indication of what is to come.

Afraid
Reaching out onto a trail way,
Quietly, she blooms,
Bashful, as always,
Appearing, however, for you.
Rain settling in again today.
Visioning you here, always,
Wandering about her scent,
She carries your tender touch,
As she delicately sways.
Your offer, lingering upon her branch.
Desiring her simple colored hue,
Nature’s best effort shown,
And your sweet yellow delight,
Will she continue here, proving growth?
Or shy away, afraid of the light.

Let’s start off with one of my favorite playwrites, J.M. Barrie. Sir, will you and your incredible optimism marry me?… *swoon* (If you’ve ever watched the movie Finding Neverland, you know the story behind his writing Peter Pan.)
“Let no one who loves be called altogether unhappy. Even love unreturned has its rainbow.”
― J.M. Barrie
