soft, pure light across my fair skin briefest of dawn’s touch this morning reminds me of where he’s already been knowing my dreams are about to end i whisper, “Let’s try all over again.”
Powerful words Audrey, so sad and almost a plea at the end…which is perfect as the dawn approaches. I am going to save this to read for tomorrow morning as dawn breaks ~ hoping that I can get up that early…it’s already late. Loved the last line…it brings out the hope of every day. Cheers!
Randall, I can’t get past your holding onto my poem until dawn. You are such a romantic and I love that! Thank you. I can’t write a poem about dawn without thinking of you. I hope you were able to find your dawn this morning. β‘
And a beautiful dawn it was today ~ overlooking Elliott Bay, coffee in hand and nothing but the peaceful quiet at the beginning of the day. Your poem, in its poignant tone, was perfect π
But why is it sad? I thought it was explaining how lovely my dreams can be…maybe this is the only place he can reach me….maybe I was happy when I wrote this….
Sometimes, my dear, the saddest words *are* the most romantic. Yearning can be so very bittersweet. Thankfully, ’tis bearable when the sweet is stronger than the bitter.

This is a perfect combination of words and image. I love “briefest of dawnβs touch..” That’s just about a perfect description of that sky.
