Yearning

image

This morning’s view didn’t whisper love,
There weren’t romantic signals, in colorful hues,
Left there to guide me,
While pushing through routine.
It was my mind’s song from yesterdays past,
Yes, one by Otis Redding.
Honestly, the song surprised me,
Reminded my broken heart of you,
Yet, encouraged my beliefs regarding true love,
And left me yearning in quiet blue.

  1. When we don’t see what we wish at a particular moment or don’ feel
what we feel we should then we often return to earlier moments in our
memory to comfort us..this is such a natural work,
Audrey, and rings so true to me.

    Big Hugs

  2. Wonderful poem. I adore the music of Otis Redding, your mention of him in this poem is very special. Go get the Prof!

  3. Was the song “Try a Little Tenderness” the one you were thinking of?? Interesting, the connection between music and memories, huh? Very well done, Audrey, but it looks like a storm’s on the way. Better batten down the hatches!!

    • Nope. πŸ™‚ That’s a good one, however, Debbie. Music always connects me to my memories. Always has and always will, probably so for many of us. Thank you, my friend. It’s been raining on and off for days now and shall continue, it seems. I don’t mind the rain. I could use a night walk in the rain now that I think on it.

  4. I was just sitting here thinking about longing, and the your post popped up! Longing is after all the memory of Love, so we should be grateful for it I think. I love your poem! ❀
