fighting words
words inside my mind
mindful of my beliefs
beliefs which carry
carry me into the light
light where you exist
exist in my every day
day: when I search
search for you the most.

To Know Her, Is To Love Her
one
the color of her pudgy nose
when it’s cold outside
and she’s in her happy place
called Late Autumn
two
sides to her sassy mouth
often chewed upon
when she attempts
to slide away, giggling
three
deep dimples
worth searching for
after finding two, living
beside her shy smile
four
corners to two hazel eyes
who’ve witnessed pain,
but questioned perfection
with sparkled contentment
five
toes, each foot
she often wished were
painted in a rainbow of
your favorite colors
six
freckles lay, forever
atop a ring finger
she often wonders
is worthy of adornment
seven
calming breaths needed
on a quiet, dark night
when dreams
come to soothe her
eight
miles from town
she’s driven, even walked
in order to feel
closer to simple
nine
her favorite number
and the many opportunities
it’ll take to convince her,
an introverted extrovert
ten
fingers, yes, predictable
but that’s what she adores
craves, the honesty
trust and unity provide

Essence of Assertion
Talk by way of fireflies,
insistant lights
dancing off the water,
flickering stardust
amongst us, with you allowing.
Reach within, feel me
soothing. Release what
controls
and prove you know
what you’re doing.
Moonlit night, high
your command or fancy,
per nature, entrusting.
Biblical; essence of old,
illuminate my soul.
My Confession
T’was not work
Creating you,
Inside my mind.
I felt you arrive,
Every. Single. Time.
Me, creative soul
Turned prima dona, maybe.
Mostly, a simple woman.
You laid upon my heart
With your words.
Not for me, you insisted,
But I took them as my own
Because without them
I was still ordinarily alone.
More than anything,
I didn’t want to be.
A shame,
For I am audacious,
Clearly seeing
Myself now
And I love me.
Z – Zephyr
I own a purpose
Within this life
I feel deepest when
My sonant sings.
Winds have howled,
My thoughts often left
Rationalized. What
Will tomorrow bring…
West winds reappear,
Command again,
I’m humbly listening.
Refuse the darkness when
It offers. Watch time take
What belongs to my soul,
And place it faithfully
Upon my willing shoulders.
I’ll continue to carry
my essence,
And give flight to the
Zephyr inside of me.
