Everything you stand for, Each word you’ve ever said, The strength I feel around you, All the valuable beliefs you’ve expressed, Only push me to love you more, Wishing I needed you a little less.
I don’t know about greatest, but it is my new favorite. I wrote it knowing he wouldn’t see it. After the phone call and hearing he wasn’t interested in being in a hospital or accepting treatment, I wrote. I began wondering how I let him go and allow him his own choices, all the while knowing how hard it would be for me to lose my father. Perhaps, wishing I needed him less would have helped. Relieved that we don’t have to worry about it now. Old stubborn cowboys rarely cry, but I love the idea of this poem making him do so. I’ll never know. I’m glad you saw this poem, Dalo, and that you thought it was okay. Have a great week. I’ll have some new poems up in no time. Sorry to keep you waiting… 😉 ♡
No, Duketh, he isn’t okay. I found out Friday afternoon that Mr. Dad has Lukhemia. *sad face* He refused treatment, but after loads of convincing he agreed to be transfered to Denver for a second opinion. Big Brother, Middle and Baby are all bedside and with him. Baby is an RN, so she’s his private nurse and private thorn in his side. He agreed to treatment this afternoon. I’m so happy right now…even in the midst of feeling completely devastated.
Thank you, Duketh. You are so very sweet for asking and your concern makes me smile. We’ll be okay. His prognosis is actually very positive, if Dad agrees to treatment. He’s an old stubborn cowboy. I may have to beat him, if he refuses. Thank you…💖
I like that, too. I have a soft spot for stubborn men. I love a challenge and defeating them is the most fun. Nothing better than that first smile. Yes, it can be, Duke.
Good. No matter how hard you tried you couldn’t change it. You’re beautiful, clever, and just overall great. I hope you have the best of nights, Audrey.
I don’t know how I couldn’t have the best of nights after all that… Wow. *sigh* Thank you, Benjamin ♡ (Never tempt me to try and convince. ..I’m far too competitive not to try. 🙂 ) Have a wonderful night, Flirty B.
Well, I’m glad to hear it. I’m competitive, too. We’ll have to compete against each other one of these days. But maybe that is for another night. Thanks 🙂
Sometimes I listen and sometimes I don’t. But I’ve never turned a redheads’ cheeks the color of her hair before. I’m sure you’re beautiful with that natural kind of blush. And thank. You deserve it always 🙂
Ha! I’m trying to dig myself out of this hole you have me in…I’m covered in your sweet words, Benjamin. 🙂 You deserve a smile on your face after being so kind. Have a wonderful afternoon.
Why would you want to need someone a little less? If it is real LOVE that person is not going to leave. Loving someone is scary. It makes you vulnerable. (((HUGS))) Amy
How were you to know
To my phone I’ve been glued
Today, the day we see
How far lukhemia has eaten away
The father of whom I was raised
Waiting for a call
A text
A message
Through your help
I laughed
Unexpected
After hours of crying
Life changes quickly
Adjusting
Easier with a friend
Thank you, Sleepy
I should have waited longer to thank you. I’m fine. It’s just very hard to be the one sitting a thousand miles away. My three siblings are with him in Denver. They are keeping me posted. I’m trying to stay busy. Everything is clean. Can’t run any further…so I’m trying to write. Not great at that right now either. Apparently bugging you came easy. 🙂 You should sleep.
This may be the greatest poem you’ve written ~ most likely created tears of happiness and pride in your father’s eyes. Simply beautiful Audrey Dawn.
