Monochrome color
Backlit heart shining bright
Tomorrow’s promise
Northern winds, usually sonorous, prepare a mournful tune
wheeling sallow remains,
once bale,
across open fields,
just yesterday.
I’ve felt you in my life
Whispered callings I ignored
My past has carried you in my heart
Pocket sized, along sandy shores
Present, and low voiced, there, too
Wooded wisps tending to folklore
Surround, comfort and continue
Our souls connecting without a clue
Continuation of plans, a need explored
Unforced, reveals a vibrant hue
Sighing, as I unfold tomorrow
How do I begin to explain you
The calmness I inhibit,
Not created by waves,
Of a tattered windsock.
Sounds of the flapping,
And the eventual snap,
Correcting all my doubts.
But the gentle wearing,
Of a used open flag,
As it slides about.
Caressing and whispering,
Mirth,
A moment of unnerving.
While I submit,
Into wonderment,
Of love and longevity.
The fraying, I cling to,
Wondering,
Am I enough.
Quietly, I approach the black night
Looking for a glimpse of elusive you
Never far away, yet always out of sight
I crave your flighty essence, my dear
Leaning into who I believe you are
I wait patiently for you to arrive
Shadows lurking beneath the water
I sense that you are incredibly near
Elusiveness keeps your heart beating
Day dwellers will never be your type
However, I’ve seen you rise for me
Your calmness soothes irrational fears
Some would push to cage your spirit
Others have threatened your home
I’m merely looking for a way inside
The mind I can’t seem to leave alone
Eerily the stalwart wind begins to blow
I’m reminded, night comes before light
Quickly you change your path’s course
I’m left to marvel over once in a lifetime
