Mary Did You Know

Let the record stand that Audrey Dawn did not back down from a challenge. Two takes…this was the better of the two, so I’m going with it.

I was challenged to spread Christmas cheer by recording a holiday favorite and asking my followers to join in. I’m giving you all a pass with the hopes that you’ll go easy on your comments of my fearless attempt to sing Mary Did You Know.

Boom!

Merry Christmas, Y’all.

I reserve the right to delete this at any time, so you’d better hurry and listen. I have no idea why my entire picture is attached to this recording. My guess is because SoundCloud knows it just adds to my humble moment in the sun. (Newbie!) Β Kill me now. Ha. Ha. Ha. Maybe y’all couldΒ listen with your eyes shut for your old pal, Aud. Even though you can’t see my eyes I’m bright red at the thought of this post, but I won’t end the year being a chicken sh*t, so here goes nothin’… I’m down to the wire on this, as I was challenged a while back, but better late than never. I had to convince myself I could survive the humiliation I feared. In all honesty, I’ve never felt more safe than right here on my blog, Oldest Daughter Redheaded Sister…

For Heaven’s sake spread Christmas cheer or this is all for not!

I think I’m nearly ready for Christmas and I hope you are, as well. I love you, always. ~Aud

  1. What a special treat ~ and an incredible surprise, you have such a nice voice! I just figured people who wrote poetry had voices meant for paper rather than ears, but you have proven me very wrong πŸ™‚ It is so cool you did this, and sang it a cappella…wonderful to hear, and this is going to be great to have in ’15: a weekly song by Audrey Dawn ~

    • I’m going to get my pleasantries out of the way first, my dear. *blushing all over again* For the love of all that is right with the world, why isn’t this one of my posts that you miss?? Ahhh! I’m going to hide now. For forever…. but, thank you. You’ve put on your ‘aww shucks ma’am’ pants, huh? πŸ™‚ I could just die. ..I can’t believe I sang, but I did.

      Now….
Mr. Collis, you are out of your ever lovin’ mind, if you think 2015 will include another post of me singing. Hahahaha! Imagine! Not. Happening. Love. Nope. Nada. I don’t like telling you no, but tisn’t going to happen, Dalo. Giggle. My guess is that you’re going to get mighty sick of this version of Mary Did You Know in 2015.

  2. Audith! That was awesome. I’m proud of you! And you did it all A cappella! That is one of my very, very, very favorite Christmas songs. The words are just so powerful. And you certainly did it justice. Quick! Take a bow, madam.

  3. Very moving, Aud. I wish I had been able to listen to it on Christmas. Thank you. My heart grew a few sizes and I’ve decided to return your presents and your roast beast. It may have gotten a little cold, though.

  4. You are brave, and you certainly didn’t back down from this challenge! You had the guts to follow through and put this recording out there. And a wonderful recording it is! I wasn’t familiar with the song, so you also introduced me to this. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas πŸ™‚

    • Thank you, Gus. I appreciate you commenting and supporting my efforts. I was so nervous…haha. I think I waited too long and Eric probably won’t see it, but I am thankful you did, as I wouldn’t have had to do it, if you hadn’t encouraged me to follow his blog. Giggle. Merry Christmas, my dear. β™‘

  5. Ya, now that’s the spirit. Love it Audrey. Good for you. Merry Christmas to you, my friend. May it be full of fun and good times. Are you with your family, or staying in Texas?
    πŸ™‚

  6. Way to go, Aud. You brought it for the season. I like your voice. From the heart, Red, from the heart. Merry Christmas, my friend. You are fearless. And you had nothing to fear in the first place. ❀

    • Aw. Well, I’d say I was brave for not trying a bit harder to sing on key for everyone so yeah, but I’ve been rushing about getting ready for Christmas and didn’t have much time. I’d like to hear you sing. Might help me feel a little better about sitting here with this post… πŸ˜‰ Thank you and I agree, I love the hymn.

  7. Hey, that was good and took some guts to post onto soundcloud. I can’t sing unless there aren’t any people within a mile radius of me. And i certainly can’t post it online afterword!

    • Kyle.. You have a way of swooping in like Superman to boost me when I throw my insecurities out and onto this blog of mine. Thanks. πŸ™‚ I thank you for that… Obviously, I cannot sing without someone helping me along, but I was quick about it.

Honestly, I used soundcloud for this first time today. I have no friends, no followers and no need to try this again, so what ever will be will be…I may try a poem instead, but there will be no rushing back to that anytime soon. Hey…all the sudden I’m feeling extremely insecure about this being here and online…. *hides*

    • I didn’t hear “wacky at all” – I had tears in my eyes as I listened.
Yet I also worry about what all that stuff in the computer melange might get stuck to anything I write
There’s the worry of how someone will take what is written when they can’t see my facial expressions or hand gestures, or when I use the wrong word, or leave out significant explanations.
So your hymn is exceptional. Just your voice and all the emotion and faith that comes across – simple and sincere.
Thank you for your sweet wishes. We had a great holiday.
