I saw a yellow finch today,
he dropped in and
perched atop a leafy branch
way up high.
he flirted a little
I winked back.
above us even further,
six more fluttered by.
I giggled,
told the neighbor
the Finches made it.
I’ve missed them,
the bunny in the backyard, too.

Reading this interpretation after writing my poem made me smile.
She presents herself
Open,
Each crimson layer
Appeasing, in
Perfection, she
Offers herself
In blush
More than once.
Found and commissioned
Here,
Luxury in velvet
Thunder calls
Soothes, instantly.
I feel
What I cannot see.
Silence explains
Everything.
Nature sighs,
Humanness remains.
I watch lightning
Seek me
Through the trees,
And sense you
Leaving,
Light ceasing
To reach me.
Sometimes
When I’m outside,
Away
From who sleeps
Inside,
Night air, comforting,
I escape myself
Duties, responsibilities,
What keeps me
Level. Grounded.
Longing for your presence,
The wind, stoic, yet
Calming, guards
While I look above me tonight.
A waterfall cascading, offers
A mysterious companionship
from just beyond my sight,
As I consider which luminous star
Was created for me.
There’s a presence
I see it, even if from afar
I sense the urge to discern
Or is it mine?
My words stumbling, brain unsure
Do I fall in completely, because
That’s what I do, or
Stay in the quiet
Where I’m comfortable, pure.
Lungs, I beg, shout
My head likely to explode, if
My lips don’t leak
Upon paper, or find shelter
Within his clothes.
If there ever comes a time
When you think
I don’t take
Great care of myself,
Tell me,
And I’ll prance who I am
Right past you,
Let you watch from a distance.
Over time, the realization
Will settle in, and
I will radiate over your skin.
It’ll be then you’ll understand
Regret.
Just so we’re clear,
I’m okay,
And having someone love me
Completely,
Is a gift I give them
Because I want to,
Not because I need to.
i cried with Him, wept, really, as i gazed toward a sovereign horizon. i don’t want to be alone forever, i finally shared. inconsolable. yet, with understanding, i accept: His time, and His way. so i made a choice to cling to my vision of happily-ever-after and my adoration of its imperfection.
Wouldn’t be a walk through my heart if we didn’t stop here, too.

if I came to you
vulnerable and open
would you reach for me,
one arm securing
all that I am,
while using the other
to point out across
my insecurities.
anchoring our eyes
as one,
and say
enough, these end.
then, holding tighter,
you would smell my hair.
I’ve always loved Otis Redding. I think Marc does a fantastic job on a timeless plea for love.
skin toned pink
upon yours, wishful thinking
oh, how you must feel

Day Two: Bruce Springsteen’s Red Headed Woman
What the lyrics mean to me: I like knowing there’s a man who enjoys a redhead. Enough to sing a song about them, too. Not enough songs or poems about redheads if you ask me. Smiles.
This song makes me laugh every time I hear it. The man knows what he’s talking about…!
