The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (Let me say, I’m fully aware I’ve done nothing to deserve the protection of these men and women. I hope not to insult with my words but to honor, possibly, and admit my shortcomings in being thankful for their service. Peace be to those who served. )
Ashamed of the details I’d forgotten,
Unnerved by the facts we aren’t taught,
Humbled by the dedication proven,
And the lives lost.
Passionate in prayer quietly watching,
Questioned how civilians give back,
Intrigued by the devotion to State,
Terrified for, and in awe of the forces they’ve reckoned with,
And grateful for every step these men take.

This is a beautiful tribute, Audrey, and when we visited, it was a truly emotional experience. xo

That is the view that Mr. Lee enjoyed before war interrupted his world. Given his reputation its current use seems fitting. It’s a rather quiet oasis.

Pensive posture seems fitting for the view, indeed. I recall profoundly the feelings I had while standing there. I would have stayed much longer had I been allowed. I also enjoyed the humble homestead not far from there. Thank you for reading.

From your vantage point, knowing you’re much closer to the subject matter than I, I’m sure it must be.

They seized his land to punish and “forget” him. They then turned it into something unforgettable that aligns with his service and beliefs. Once again an effort to divide by those with malice ended up uniting.

History has a lot of interesting and ironic lessons. The question is always “Have we learned or are we using today to repeat yesterday’s mistakes?”
A conversation almost always beats silence but time and again history has such moments. A Book is full of both examples and reminders not to do such.

Listening for God’s voice, help and even hand is the golden piece in conversation. We, as a society, have chosen to decide between the lesser of evils instead of the best of the best. We’re capable of so much, yet chose to ignore the obvious signs of deterioration. In the end, I much prefer safety to comfort.

Too few realize that simple wisdom though.

It has a way of infuriating me, if I’m being honest. Watching people blatantly follow like sheep is disgusting behavior. Wanting no part in decision making will ruin our democracy. As a society we are taking on the role as someone’s child forever – adulting is real.
Hahaha. I’m officially, old.

Trading freedom for comfort is certainly a fair description.

Once again, you have taken my weighty worded response and clarified it. Thank you, C.
Interesting and ironic… looking back all the hard moments made today livable. Turns out hard work is worth the cuts and bruises.
