the longing is evident
childish, I know
within the quiet of darkness,
and writing under the sheets,
my wishlist, still nowhere near complete

Direction
overwhelmed with responsibility
I listen to the rain fall for hours early this morning.
not a bird rejoices
as dawn breaks, although hidden
but the train travels through
twice, horn insistent.
strong coffee brews,
snowflakes appear
beauty automatic,
like women with blue eyes
and goldenrod hues of hair.
a tantrum wouldn’t fix
what’s inside my head,
use the wisdom and
traits God gave me
stop worrying about
what’s changing.
snowflakes fall
white covers the ground
my lilies now
curled back in fear,
winter refuses to leave
and I wish you were here.
Musing
What She Sees
there’s a picture inside her,
her mind, really
an arm gathering her close
a chuckle and nod,
seen outside the corner
of her hazel eye.
mature trees outline
what is before them
sounds of babbling water
fill her head,
smells of lilac
purple, not white
adorn her radiant skin
as the sun’s final kiss
winks just then.
barefoot beauty,
bit of dust upon her toes
boots next to hers
days work shows,
smells of the day
draw her in…
focus takes over
and she’s back
in her office again
Weakness
Evening
Daytime eases
Beckons an evening breeze
Felt behind my ear
Twilight offers
A final bit of sunshine
And I wish you were here
A chance to dip our toes
Sit upon the bank
Count stars beyond the clear
Side by side in nervous chatter
Eyes cast down
Water; my distraction,
Strong hands in red hair
And suddenly,
Nothing else matters
