Unfortunate circumstances surround,
the joy attached to the idea
of visiting this house.
As a child, I felt protected,
now my children wonder, to whom
the blame is set?
Money shouldn’t control,
yet,
it does, leaving behind
a steadfast belief in unity and solidarity, wrapped in parental tough love.
This passion for leadership should exist,
personal preference –
grounded in faith from above, and rooms for existentialists.
Young minds dream, set goals,
similar sentiments can be traced back
to years ago.
– Tous pour un, un pour tous. –
Experience, a must, most would agree,
understanding war, law, nations, the humble, complex ideologies, and to whom we place our trust.
Room for change is generally in need,
a strict warning against swift technology.
Ha, just admit it,
the brilliantly rich know more than we do, and we’re terrified of AI absurdity.
The manifestos of ancestors impressive,
progression for many requires time,
generations of wisdom holding value, as
this country mingles in crime.
A home base with decades of failure, take heed –
these seasons,
they reek of power and greed.
Souls weep,
all for one and one for all, a dream
profoundly exhausted, hearts broken,
Let us breathe!
Society divided, but love surely shows,
costs substantial, life unrecognizable.
What, pray tell, shall we do? Executive branches wither as fighting ensues.
Young keen voices abundant, AHH!
A servant life, not many are called to,
let the anointed through.
Spoiled attention seekers have stolen the show,
now, money decides
who stays and who will go.

So much wisdom here, Audrey. I wish ALL our leaders — starting at least at the state level — could read a copy of your words, then meditate individually on them for an hour or so, then be locked in a room together to hash things out (and not released until they’ve come up with a better plan than what we’re dealing with now!)

What a nice compliment, Debbie. Thank you. I’d love to hear something I wrote caused a pause in the trajectory. There is blame all around and we each have a dose to attend to, this I realize. I pray we can see ourselves out of the mess created. Many hugs, my friend.

Amongst the many tricks for causing friction lies division. If you can get folks to look at (a relative) now then they miss or forgo the bigger picture. They will see (and feel) emotion and they will allow this to override logic. As long as you can get “your” base to do this then you can keep them interested in your team even if your team is bad for the sport.
Devil tricks people similarly and they miss something in front of them while they desperately clutch to a past notion. Be it personal or national it behooves us to give the other the “chance to be wrong” and the grace to start over lest we lose our days defending our right to “be right”. The only tepid consolation is that folks of every stripe have been making this mistake since the dawn of time.

Your explanation of my feeble attempt to raise conversations to include the possibility of another way surely helps my cause. We were created to tackle what “bugs us”. I believe it’s our sole purpose in life. Chasing what bothers us in an effort to figure out why it does and fix it. Hopefully for the betterment of society. To be selfless enough to do for others first. Takes bravery, something you know about first hand, and the desire for truth. I believe we have a world, a country and relationship worth fighting for. Being right never has interested me, nor winning – attending to the desire of being heard and part of an effort is the best of situations.
Our country- it’s people- need protection, in my opinion. We’ve lost a desire to take on all we can for the best of outcomes. I probably speak out of turn here and in my poem. My heart aches for simplicity which comes from loads of sacrifice. I’m rambling with enough knowledge to be dangerous. Thank you for your comment. I know it comes from a place of experience.

“Think globally, act locally.” Seems like it conveys the gist of my idea at the moment. All we can do with most things is control ourselves and hope to be a good example for those around us. Among the options include speaking, sharing in the right time and place and letting those around us know we are grateful for this blessing.

Why does the picture of the iceberg tip coming out of the water come to mind? Bring water to a bucket with a hole is another visual. Digging a hole with a rake, is a other one. Ridi g a bike with the tires off the ground…
I could keep going.
There’s a little girl inside of me that wants to yell “somebody do something.”
This is why I pray. Nothing else is in my wheel house.

Remember that we are always “here”. We’ve always been “here”. Awareness is the only difference. Doubt this and all you need to do is pick a place and a year then start your research. It’s sobering. With that knowledge in hand you then see the importance of our voice, our influence, on the side of civility.

I imagine those who understand the seriousness of this situation – the real concern – wish we all knew more and held the value much higher than we collectively do. Thank you for your patience.

There is too much money involved to keep this process focused on what needs attention.

Yes, Dan. We’ve gone too far, haven’t we?! Our focus is gone, and now there’s nobody with any sense. I do find joy in hearing my son’s thoughts, though. Maybe all isn’t lost. Thank you for reading.
