Happy Thanksgiving

image

Wishing I was with you,
No matter where you are,
I thought I heard you whisper,
Meet me among the stars.
Paper, rock, scissors,
Our little boy insists,
Hugs and kisses,
On his nightly visit.
He waits patiently,
On the tip of the moon,
His favorite moment,
You be me,
And I’ll be you.

***Written with love for my siblings. Big Brother, Middle, and Baby will all arrive late tonight at Dad’s house. The Old Cowboy will be thrilled. I know the coffee will be on and the anxious chatter will begin. It’ll be way past midnight, it usually is, when this poem arrives.

***Now a quick ditty…

‘Tis a late Thanksgiving Eve,
And found crowded around the table,
Is a family who loves to giggle,
With someone who’s trying to sleep.
As usual, it’s our Middle,
Big Brother’s asked to please wake her,
Hurry now, before she’s seen,
Or, as usual, Baby’s gonna scream.
“Someone pay attention to me!”
“Don’t you love me anymore?”
“Get Middle off the floor!”
Big Brother will scratch his head,
And roll his eyes with a grin,
Mumbling, “Not this again…”
Time for some of my Dad’s whiskey.
Our Old Cowboy lifting her to her feet,
Left responding rather gruffly,
“Middle, you haven’t even kissed me!”
All four will be left to ponder,
Why his Oldest Daughter’s missing,
“Who does she think she is by moving.”
What could their redheaded sister,
Have possibly planned,
More important than her clan?
I know, they know, for Thanksgiving,
There’s nowhere else I’d rather be,
But, this year I have to write for them,
From here in Houston, sun shining.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!! I love you guys!!

~Little do they know…I’m off in the morning to experience Houston’s live Thanksgiving Day Parade.

My Dynasty

Counting the days, now it’s hours, it seems.

Coming to you, darlings, it’s no longer a dream.

Talk me through my travels, we’ll be just fine.

Not visions of sugar-plums, do I see.

Only me steamrolling you to the floor this Saturday eve.

Prepare, my loves, be waiting for me by the door.

Oh what joy! Christmas with siblings, I couldn’t ask for more.

Get ready, I’ll be searching your eyes. Are you okay?

No, I’m not, but I’ll be just fine.

Pull the reins of the beast that controls our time.

I’m yours and you are mine, this Christmas.

Jolly Holiday

Yes, well the city’s Christmas lights were illuminating the twilight air, as thick fog stood still in front of everyone crossing the busy street. Noise from the luxury cars passing by created an evening air fit for the Art District. The shadow society of downtown was dressed in proper black, some even sparkling like stars on a prairie sky.

Walking by the valet drivers, up the stairs and into the restaurant took everything she had. After today this kind of evening so much more unfamiliar to her. She feared the strength she’d need wouldn’t be there. She had a lot on her mind it was somewhere else, stories swirling in her head. One, a story she’d have to tuck away for the time being. How would she write for him, as if taking on the role of a Captain, he’d musted and commanded her to write of swords. A welcomed blank page for releasing anger, a well suited possibility, it seemed.

Siblings

Time spent with family is a priceless gift. Enjoy the laughter, make memories and remember those you can’t be with today. I plan on calling my siblings this morning, so I can remind them of how adored they truly are by their Redheaded Sister. I don’t know who I’d be without them.

Blessings to you, my friends. I am a better person because of this blog of mine. The two voices, which never get heard, are singing loudly every day and shine through each post. Thank you for reading and for being a friend. Happy Thanksgiving!!

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween

A Happy Halloween! I hear that the rain will be keeping all the children inside today. Halloween cancelled? Maybe, how strange. I have a little green Witch that will be so sad…

Oh, and this pumpkin masterpiece, created two years ago, by the little boy who grew up this year and doesn’t feel a need to consider Halloween. New role for him?

Candy Benefactor, I suppose.

Rain rain go away…
