crucial some would say
the space between then and now
fluctuates between right
and wrong, expected
obviously.
looking back – foolish,
forward eventually becomes – available.
we possess forward.
when shared,
is it ever really your own?

I’ve always enjoyed sitting back and thinking about then and now, all the different paths that were available then (right and wrong) and a little excited about all those unknown ahead as I sit in the now. When you’ve lived a life knowing you’ve done your best ~ something like what you wrote above is the result. All the time, then and now, revolves around those you’ve touched and those who have touched you. I’m enjoying this Saturday morning, grateful to all those ๐ Thank you ๐

So…my little corner of the world … this makes me giggle all the sudden since the Midwest doesn’t really have a corner per se. ๐

Thought-provoking poem, Audrey. Time takes on a whole new meaning when the kids leave the nest. We survived the past year when our youngest left, but not without tears. Of course, we visit them and they visit us, and talk and text, so those visits and means of communication help fill the silence in the home and the heaviness in the heart. I wish you all the best, and it is a wonderful feeling to see “them” fly and succeed on their own. ๐

Gosh, I am thankful for your insight. Saying good-byes and closing seasons/chapters in our lives truly creates an intense set of emotions. Motherhood changes and those 20 years went by in a flash. Thank you for your thoughts, Lauren. โก

At some point, all time becomes our own. It may be for only a split-second though

Splitting seconds so that we might share. Giggles.
Sharing time truly is all that matters. Living life with others is something we were made for, I believe.

I agree. My thought about time being our own is that last bit before eternity.

John, grateful for our time here. So much to look forward to, I believe. Eternity. Meet you there.

It’s sad that we have a limited amount of time, but we so often choose to focus on the past.

As I finish out my final summer with children in the house, I can’t help but think about time and those we give ours to, Dan. Empty nesting feels increasingly strange, yet it looms over me. I’m proud of the children I raised and it is time to watch them become everything they’ve dreamt of. For me it is time to consider how I spend my time. Thank you for reading.
