gripping flocculent monochrome thoughts
like grass tuffs in summer
now willing their release,
i know not what will become of me.
coolness of springtime
wearing off inside my palms,
as deep down the warmth of earth corrects right side,
my defeated revered thumbs.
dark corners of the woodlands
beckon hither
my soul hinged upon true light,
sprites leading in delicate whisper
don’t go for fear of what might…
chase winter with abandon,
fragile heart,
much yet to be loved
like melodic hums chasing snowflakes on tips of tongues.
so come old man winter
blazing frosted cool crisp air,
however I am treasured,
stripped tree my protector,
expose of me what you dare.
DAWN IN WINTER
Ever defiant
But politely of course
Well brought up lady

“My soul hinged on true light.” The very center line of your poem, Audrey, the very true center of who you are. I was so glad to see you back here.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Lots and lots of feelings awash in this one, Poetess. ‘Tis lovely, truly. We awoke to our first snow this morning. Makes everything beautiful … until Dallas goes outside and makes it messy, ha! Happy Christmas to you and yours!

“….. chasing snowflakes on tips of tongues” Ahhhh… I remember the day. Perhaps it was the very same day I learned that I should never have …”fear of what might.”
Beautifully written Audrey Dawn… Magnificent pic. Really… nothing more beautiful than a tree standing so proudly… unadorned… against the hues of the winter sky.
A most beautiful day to you…

Michael, we tend to enjoy the same bits of my poetry. I liked those, too. Not sure why I shared this poem. Seems kinda all over the place. Sad in the beginning, worrisome in the middle, and I suppose brave in the end. I’m always so happy to see you near my poetry. Makes beautiful even more so…thank you for being close.

The truth we often deny… Our exposed nature. So many of us choose to run from it, rather than confronting it.
Awesome wordplay and metaphor!

Shun, you’re far closer to getting this poem than you probably realize. I’m not only impressed (cause I’m sure I make less sense than I believe I do) , but also grateful for your comment and attention to my words. Thank you so much for reading me.

It is my honor and labor that I wrestle with, daily… I’ve been writing on this frequency as of late, so it… Shouted at me.

There’s nothing more frightening than not being heard. I lock hands with nature in ways many don’t understand. Physically, yes, I love being there, like your wonderful photos depict, but there are times when I need to rely on my imagination to remember how those moments allow me to feel. I accept who I am after those moments. It’s important our silent voices are heard.

Strangely enough, looking at the pictures always provides me with a segue back to that place, back to those feelings.

Yes, exactly. For me, it’s coming to terms with the feelings I wrestle with, and seeing them on paper finally with some sort of closure or wisdom spoken through my hands (from somewhere else entirely, I believe) takes me back to the photo I took. This process brings closure and a way for me to understand why the photo was so important to take in the first place. A message in pieces. I never tire of it.

Full of gratitude tonight for the welcome and virtual hugs, Betty. It’s been a hectic December and usually is in my line of work. I struggle with juggling everything I love to do with everyone who needs my full attention. I’m happy for the chance to interact here. I miss you guys so much when I am away. I hope your holidays are full of light and love. Merry Christmas. β‘β‘β‘

A wonderful sight to have you in my comments, Dan. Yes, winter is here. We woke to snow this morning. My son, now driving age, is thrilled. Time for some ice driving lessons. I’m bundling up tight, too. Onward and upward is the right way to go.
Thank you so much. Merry Christmas to you guys, as well. β‘
