The way you approach
In full confidence
Steady control
Centers me
An ability to sense
Where I’m at emotionally
By simply patrolling
Around me
Knowing you’re near
A presence about you
I cling to automatically
With nothing to fear
As if exploration of my mind
Is what you desire
What sets me apart
And yours to admire
The mastery used
Absolutely nothing to prove
Leaves me yearning
Spinning, as I watch
Fantastic ability surrounds
Every thought, every sound
My body reacts
Easily
Your offer, often powerful
Soothes my soul
Leaves me adored
Until next time
This one is absolutely stunning, Audrey! You got some great photos, too.

Your words always amaze me ma’am.
My lack of poetic skill is legend but I can read and this reminds me of a favorite funny. Once, in a land far, far away I was heading off of an Air Force installation. As I eased up to security I saw a bumper sticker that made me laugh for the rest of the day.
“Yea though I travel through the Valley of Death I fear no evil for I am 18,000 feet, payload free and climbing!”
Drop the load and climb so you may enjoy your day ma’am.

Well, C, that means a lot, thank you. If I can amaze you, one who doesn’t particularly care for poetry, then I’m achieving what I set out to do. Poetry can be readable and enjoyed by all in some way.
Your story…I didn’t know this about you. Serendipitous, I say. Thanks for sharing your story here. There is always time for laughter.
Thanks for the advice. Being capable of doing so will return, my hope.

Precision indeed. Loving this new style: punchy and powerful. Inspired me to respond with this:
OPEN ENDED
You are invited to take the air
On wings for too long trussed
(Not the best sort of trust)
So switch craving to braving
Half the sky is already yours
The other half yours to explore

Thank you, Ben. Sometimes very few words express my thoughts better than a hundred. I’m the same way in person. Imagine how boring I must be..
I love this poem and adore when I can inspire another poet. There’s something so intimate and reassuring about your words with mine.
Me brave? Maybe I live in a fantasy world much too often. I guess I feel braver that way. Sad really…

So true! Such a fine quote. I hesitate to say adore because I don’t want you to feel too overwhelmed by praise.

Very considerate of you. I just wanted to encourage you to venture a little more often out of your “fantasy world”. I think I detect apart of you that would like to be bolder and lets you (and us) know by dropping odd little hints in your poetry.

That’s the first time they’ve been referred to as odd.

I meant odd in the sense of “occasional, incidental, or random” not odd in the sense of “strange or peculiar”. (https://www.thefreedictionary.com/odd). Perhaps that usage of the word is more English than American? Sorry for any confusion/ lack of clarity. My bad.

The Blue Angels used to be stationed at the Navy base near us. My dad was a Navy man and knew all the pilots (this was back in the 50’s) so I sort of grew up watching them practice. They still amaze me (and make me nervous…!)

They amaze me, too. It’s the confidence above all else I’m drawn to. How cool to grow up in such a setting. I had a great friend years ago who was a Navy wingman. I loved just being near him. (So nervous)
