Morning nourishment
Blueberry sweetness secure
What matters the most
***
Hustle of giggles
Cold toes kick up snowy hills
Whatever will be
***
Always a mom first
Stop growing up so quickly
My first name, Audrey

Wonderful π And you had me with the jam π Yummmmmmmmmmmmmm

Ah, they grow too soon, don’t they? I don’t have to advise you to enjoy each of their stages as it takes place, though, right? There’s something wonderful about a young adult who still calls regularly, comes home when he can, and still calls me mama!! π

They do grow too soon, but I’ve enjoyed every season they’ve created. Hope your weekend went well, Debbie.

I so loved being called mama – and now I’m a bubbie and even my sons call me bubbie. What I’d give for one more day of just being mama to my sons when they were little, now only memories.
Kiss your babies, Audrey – though I doubt I have to tell you that. Such a sweet and perfect poem.

Sometimes I’m Momma still, but my teenagers usually say, “mom and mother” a lot in my house and the name proceeds a question of Where is…
Sigh. Their independence is thriving. I remind myself this is what I’ve been parenting for all these years.
I think you should put down being called mama as a birthday request. Would be lovely. π

Actually, they still call me Mama, and they each have their own kids – I miss them being little though, those little voices calling out, “Mama.”

Referencing names. Mommy or Audrey? It’s kind of something I know the answer to but I wanted to make sure you saw. It was my thought as I read. Our names are really designators for the most part. A tag put on a bundle of emotions we feel for another. (Think of your thoughts when you hear the name of another you know.) But “Mommy” is so much more isn’t it. Some will like you and some won’t but to some you will always be “Mom” and, for that, you are blessed.

I know I began this life destined for Mommy and I’m grateful for this path. You’ve always done a fine job of reminding me of what is most important. Thank you, C.

You’re welcome ma’am.
I’m odd and I know it. One of many things I miss from the old way is….? The headstones! They used to have one for parents in the family plots. It would have the names, DoB, marriage and then, over the one buried, their family name. Think “Daddy” on one side and “Mom” on the other. To those descendants, that was the name of the one in the grave. Telling detail.

I sense the love given and received throughout loved one’s lives in headstones like these, as well. Not odd at all, C. There is such romance found in respect and honor.

It definitely makes one pause and ponder their interactions with those not yet gone doesn’t it. Sad some miss that moment of introspection and beauty.

To forget to smile is to turn your back on God and make the Devil’s day. I might be a tad beleaguered but I haven’t lost sight of what matters.
