daylight cruises
toward nightfall
and I remember when.
Bon Jovi sang
it isn’t hearts breaking even,
which is why, I still delight
in all that was genuine.
I know my decision
wasn’t
needing
you to feel a similar pain,
I’d just finally decided
we were too young to die
this way.
Must have been a nearly impossible understanding of a miserable situation. Fortunately, you grasped what was necessary for each of you to breathe at the end. Very powerful.

Watch two souls fail to connect was hard. Knowing they both have the chance to thrive again helps. Thanks for being of such comfort, my friend.

Another simply lovely one, Audrey. Melancholy, but somehow hopeful. Perhaps that’s a good compromise, huh?!

Two great words used to describe this poem, Debbie. Perhaps. 🙂 xx

Takes courage. Like Dan, I’ve been there. You are brave and it will pay off.

You know how much I appreciate you sitting near, John. As I told Dan, it saddens me that there are others affected by this poem. I’ve been blessed by the smiles you’ve created over the years. Some days I feel brave other days I wonder where the strength comes from. What’s lovely knowing is everyone can relate to that no matter their situation. Thank you for your comment. *big hug*

I have to say it is a good poem and you should not feel badly when others are affected. It means you are putting out meaningful verse and it matters to folks.

Honestly, there is a lot I wouldn’t have shared had I not felt like my words were helping someone else. The day that stops being the case is when I’ll creep back into my clam shell and write for myself. Thank you, John. ♡

Grateful to be in such good company, however, it saddens me, as well. Glad this spoke to another soul. When I was writing this, it almost felt as though I was merely the “transcriptor”. The poem taught me. Hugs.

For me, it’s a distant memory, but it was a good point to turn and a good direction. I don’t know about poetry, but I know that feeling when the words just flow through you onto the page.

I identify with the turn and direction. Life is a truly beautiful road to travel.
Same, I think. Flows beautifully.
