There’s conflict in every aspect of life, and sadly, regret in many of our past actions. When we give of ourselves and the gift is met with insincerity, we flay ourselves for having been duped. Yet what empty shells would we be for never having tried? No guarantees in life. Sounds cold, but oh, the warmth when we are rewarded finally with true love.

One can’t live in the atmosphere of regret for long. It hurts too much, you know. So we reclassify it as “a learning experience” and with great resolve, move forward. And that takes time. Allow yourself to feel fully and grasp the future with hopeful expectation, my friend!

Ugh…Thank you for voicing what I could not eloquently express myself. You nailed it, Morgan. There is a sadness that one cannot describe when you have to grieve what you dreamt of for so long. That..what might have been, would have been, if only…has true presence in our life. (I just wrote a poem this morning that ended in if only. I realize the affect this poem/emotion will still resonate and will for a long time. A natural process, I believe. It feels good to smile.

I was rereading my poem for tomorrow and what’s missing is the beauty. For example, the poetic flow. The front end of these poems are quite literally tough to read. And not critique negatively…which happens to be what this next poem is about. Surreal, Morgan. I think this is a test. Ha.

It’s interesting to read this and see how far I’ve come since writing it. What might have been is a great springboard into what one wants the next time around. One shouldn’t linger in regret or might have been too long…one misses the journey, perhaps. A great day to you, as well, Randall.
