Holistic Wayfarer made me an offer I couldn’t refuse, so I wrote a guest post a few weeks ago. I’m thrilled to see my memorable story on her blog tonight. Honored and better for the journey…

I liked it. I like where you’re thinking. I have an idea for guest posts. It’s really variations on a theme. I need people to write letters for me to a)graduating seniors families and b) two people with babies seeking baptism. I would love to farm that out.

You make me laugh, Sir Richard. I might be perfect for the job, you know. I haven’t shared my new profession with you yet. We’re both now working for the betterment of our community’s Methodists. Smiles. I know, I know… π

I got my act together and focused on the writing needs of the community on all levels. I caught up some this week. Easter put me behind. I’m glad to hear you’re on the team!

Please forgive me for my grammar, my punctuation, and my spelling. My hands are calloused, that was, and is my life. We had fun, we have fun, we owe that to our kids. No matter how simple it may seem to some. Wouldn’t change a thing.

You express yourself nicely, Bug Brother. Our years on Hickory Street are the best of memories. I love that our children have similar ones from their backyard. May seem simple, but anyone who reads my blog knows how important and effortless simple can be and it is cherished. A way of life to be proud of…we both know it is far from simple and backbreaking hard some days. β‘

I saw your replies to comments on the Holistic Journey blog, so you’ve seen comments there. Still, I’m going to repeat my comment here, since I really enjoyed the writing:
A kaleidoscope of memories that made me smile. The skipping fun of being a kid and getting dirt on your shoes and legs, as well as snow crusting on mittens. You’ve captured that skipping fun so well with this writing.

Glad it warmed your heart. And I hope your heart is still writing poetry. I need to get back to reading the blogs I follow.

My heart is still writing poetry and over the last few months it has begun to sound more like me again. Thankful for it. Yes, you need to come around more and read when time allows. No pressure, Gus. xx

This is such a great piece of writing ~ and took me back to the seasons of my youth and memories that will always be there to cushion me on any bad day. You’ve written a story, and your poetry with words shine right on through. Great work Aud π

Randall, thank you for your kind words here, as well as Holistic Wayfarer’s blog. Sometimes it feels like you’re the guy with the banner cheering me on at the top of the bleachers. From China no less! Blushing. I can’t begin to tell you how important it is to me that you still see the poet amongst all those words. Bless you for being you, my friend. One day we’ll swap backyard stories over whiskey. Hugs π

My comments are over at Wayfarer’s place. I enjoyed this Audrey and found great pleasure remembering Joey, Gus, Joanne, Brent, Robert, David, and Caroline. They are gone, but you brought them back for a while. π

Yeah your words did that to me when I was thinking of all the friends who have passed. The bright spot though is the memories are so sweet.

Ok, so. First of all, congratulations! It’s a big achievement to guest blog! God Bless you with more opportunities like these.
I read the wonderful story of yours and I felt it deep inside me. What wonderful talent you have! Childhood days are truly special, I miss those. While the story was nostalgic, taking me back to my childhood days, it was amazing and refreshing from the usual depressing stuff I read nowadays π You have peeked my interest, thank you for that!
Keep writing till you die! It’s a wonderful thing, to be able to put thoughts and stories on paper! Thanks a lot for the story! π

Thank you, Weaver. I appreciate the encouragement and your positive vibes. They’re very much needed, as I try to remember what it feels like to be inspired. Our childhood days have many moments where innocence can be found, even during turmoil. I’ll do my best to keep writing for y’all. Hugs!!
