Beauty of the garden
Soft, smooth and velvety
Perfect shade to please
In season and willing
For you to take a peek
Approach her gently
Don’t confuse her
With your favorites
She’s no lady in waiting
She’s completely aware
Of what she offers
Not your normal flavor
Command her attention
Ease into her with caution
She shines iridescent inside
A lovely poem and a beautiful flower – but I think it’s oleander, deadly poisonous to anyone who mistakenly eats it.
Is that a hidden part of the poem?

Thanks, Shari. Yes, she is a vicious flower, indeed. Glad you caught the hidden bits.

Wow, now I really like this poem (missed the Oleander reference the first time through)…perhaps that is why I like the poem so much, I miss the warning/meaning the first time around and only finally get it after swallowing the last of her petals. 🙂

Yay! Good, I’m thrilled you like this poem. (Its okay!!) I love that you saw this one for the beauty that she is, Dalo. Oh my gosh, I adore your comment. It is so fantastic! I have a feeling Miss Oleander would be very happy to have you after her petals. You are just the best. How did I get so lucky to have stumbled upon you? 🙂

Ha, ha…I would have gotten it, if not for the help from the comments section 🙂 Which is funny in its own right, as life and love can be funny that way too ~ see the danger way too late. Cheers!

I sometimes like to offer a little more in a poem. I like it as it reads. Simple and intriguing. Sometimes it’s fun to hide a little something inside a poem. I don’t make them too hard to find. This was tricky unless you know or research the flower, which I had to do. Yes, exactly what I was thinking about life and love.

Shining inside…that line’s the best, and it makes me think the most. That’s where most of the shining takes place, huh?

Thanks, Duke. I was hoping that line would leave a lasting impression. The most important place to shine, maybe. Right?

It is definitely the most important place to shine!

You try to convince us that you are not shiny, but I see that you totally do shine on the inside.
