Escaping
Multiple ways
Peaking through
A protective sheath
Darting into bloom
Look at me
Assuming his crown
Sauntering and taunting with the wind
Swaying as he anticipates
The sun’s kiss
Smothered in hues of blue
Rooted in purple
The color of Kings
Surveying his empire
Tip glowing
Surrounded in white
Empowered wildflower
Standing at attention
Waiting to be devoured
It is amazing how hard nature makes it minions work!! Oh ! but so worth the effort!

Beautiful poem, Audith! (Between me and you, the color of a king should not be purple! Should be black.)

WOW, this is gorgeous poetry, Audrey. If it’s okay to say, I think your writing has improved since I began reading your blog (hope that came out alright…).

Really?! You make me smile, Starr. Thank you for boosting my ego today. Yes, I have a few people we can thank for encouraging my poetry and my true feelings, and one day I hope to properly thank them. Thank you… 🙂

I think writing is like wine–the more we write, and the older we get, the richer the product. Just my pea-brain opinion…

There is a reason they got to be that way, isn’t there, Audrey?

Yes, I think so. It is my goal to leave a few if my own along the way. You know, 25 years from now someone uses them and smiles.

Maybe Chris and I will draw up an extensive line-by-line itinerary for you at lunch today, Audrey. What do you say? Between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., pilates on the balancing ball? Or beer at the neighborhood pub?
LikeLike
Haha. Well, I’d say pilates would go better if I had a few shots of tequila first, so neighborhood pub at 2:30. Paliates from 3-4 and then back to O’Malleys for beer and baseball.

Yes, make sure there is plenty of time for that, Mark. Improv, too. Don’t forget.

Christopher S. Malone would not let me, ever. We had lunch today sitting outside in Clinton Square, bought sandwiches looking out over a fountain. It’s the spot immediately next to the newspaper building where I worked for 29 years. Sun-filled hour. Chris re-iterated that he would not do karaoke, and I said no improv, and we admired that you will do both.

He won’t let you participate in Improv? Lunch sounded nice, Mark. I bet you have great stories from your time with the newspaper. Had I been to lunch with you two, I would’ve convinced you both just to try either one. *blush* I can’t say the karaoke would have been great on my part, but I say, why not!

I do not want to try improv, all the reluctance my own, Audrey. I have enough old newspaper stories to bore new friends through lunches for many, many meetings to come. 🙂 I didn’t tell a one today, actually. I take that back. After we saw a guy doing heel lifts on the concrete steps, I went on about the fitness room and machines and how I never used a machine there once.
